Hands-on Lessons on the Laser

The American Physical Society is producing a series of three hands-on lessons on the laser, for high school classrooms. They are:

  1. What's so Special about Laser Light?
  2. How Does a Laser Work?
  3. What Are Some Applications of Lasers?

The activities will debut at the APS/AAPT High School Physics Teachers Day on February 12, 2010, just before the joint APS/AAPT meeting in Washington DC, and will also be presented at the Teachers Day at the APS March Meeting in Portland. Participants will receive a copy of the lessons and a kit of classroom materials. Students' and teachers' editions will be downloadable from the APS website, with links on the LaserFest site.

If your organization is interested in holding a teacher workshop using these activities, APS can provide a limited number of lesson books and kits to hand out to workshop participants. These materials will be available on the APS website, with a link from the LaserFest website. If you're interested, please contact Ed Lee at lee@aps.org.
